How To Keep Your Resolution

From an article in the NY Times, Jan 5, edition entitled, “How to Keep your Resolutions”, a few researched suggestions:

1.Make a concrete plan. When you do so you embed your intentions firmly in memory and makes it harder to postpone good behavior since doing so requires breaking an explicit commitment to yourself.
2.Put something you value on the line. Those who commit more than just a commitment gain better outcomes. Think about joining an exercise class, paying a fee helps increase compliance.
3.Bundle your temptations. If you love sweets treat yourself after a hard exercise session that expended more calories than the treat. ** I have a little commentary on this one ;)
4.Seek social support. You can achieve more by pursuing goals with the help of a mentor. Goals set with friends or loved ones help attain your goals.

**my challenge to you: retrain so you don’t use food as a reward–you will healthier and proud of yourself for it!
Good luck with your New Years resolutions for better health in 2014.
